These two antique hand crafted wax stamp seals are finely engraved with intricate details. Though the fine details are hard to discern in the photos, the craftsmanship of both make these pieces highly collectible.
The purple seal, showcases Persephone being carried into the underworld by Pluto (Hades), god of the underworld, resulting in her loss of clairvoyance and her connection to the upper and lower worlds through the cycle of seasons. Indeed, this story arose at a time when humanity lost it's clairvoyance and connection of the soul with spirit wisdom in order to gain it's freedom. It is our task now to raise the pain of that loss into consciousness, and through our connection with the cycle of the year, to regain our relationship to the feminine wisdom within and about us in connection with the redemptive power of Christ.
It is an exquisitely carved piece signed by the artist, with its last auction sale around 1993 realizing $800.
The rust colored wax stamp seal is carved from a carnelian gemstone in the shape of a scarab. It features an inscription depicting the Greek myth of Leda and the Swan. This myth involves Zeus, who transforms into a swan to seduce Leda, leading to the birth of Helen of Troy and other notable figures. It symbolizes transformation, divine intervention, and the blending of human and divine realms, often exploring themes of beauty and destiny.
