This finely crafted copper medal honors St. Joan of Arc, the legendary Maid of France. The obverse features a detailed relief of Joan in armor, holding a sword, with the inscription "MAID OF FRANCE" encircling the edge. The reverse showcases an intricate design with crossed flags and the dedication "DEDICATED TO JOAN OF ARC NEW YORK," surrounded by ornate detailing.
Rudolf Steiner discussed Joan or Arc's spiritual significance and mission in the context of his spiritual-scientific perspective. Steiner viewed her as a figure of profound importance, guided by higher spiritual beings, particularly the Archangel Michael and the Christ, during a critical period in human evolution.
Steiner suggested that Joan’s mission was instrumental in shaping the destinies of nations, particularly in differentiating the spiritual and cultural paths of France and England. He saw her as a pure soul who overcame the self-seeking and vainglorious tendencies of her time, acting as a catalyst for the emergence of the "consciousness soul"—a stage in human spiritual development where individual awareness and moral responsibility deepen. Her martyrdom was interpreted as a sacrifice that helped align human history with divine purposes, particularly during the transition of archangelic regencies in the 15th century.
